Who gives af. Of course china is not gonna say 'oh actually we're equal or worse'
Anything other than dismissive would actually be news
The concept of a 'space race' at this point is kind of absurd. There can be a mini moon race, but a late entry like China is basically entering the marathon when the frontrunner is on mile 25.
China can only move as fast as the technology they steal.
China is good at stealing, but importantly also very good at improving production speed AND lowering costs. They also have a track record of improving on stolen tech in some fields.
The USA stole the technology needed for its industrialisation too. Its irrelevant anyway, it doesn't matter how they got here the only important thing is they are here.
It’s a face-saving thing. If China sets a target and misses it, well they can’t have that.
Global Times is a tabloid that is essentially the Chinese equivalent of the Daily Mail. They're not in any way official and have even been criticized by actual Chinese government departments to shut up before.
Actual govt opinion pieces would be coming from the People's Daily.
As someone outside the USA, are the general public super excited about this? Or are they cynical that in the face of a looming recession money is being spent on a program like this? Personally i am pretty excited but i had no idea until this week that it was happening.
Funny how our Media does the same, with headlines like CHINA IS TAKING OVER THE MOON!
China being dismissive about Western achievements? I won't believe it!
The fact that they're shit talking it means they're busy trying to spirit away as much of it as they can and sticking it in their stuff
