China does a lot of wrong things but I do like how they punish their billionaires, with billion dollar fines and not the slap on the wrist and then subsidies our billionaires get.

The problem is: China isn't punishing it's billionaires for their many, many wrongdoings until said billionaires have either gotten a bit too powerful or outlived their usefullness.

This. It's like Enron. Once in awhile the government will take a rich elite and crucify them to calm the masses.

Enron was the U.S. government kicking some execs when they were already dead, while China tends to destroy the most powerful people at their height.

Still better than the way it's handled in the US.

This is like if Donald Trump was allowed to jail Jeff Bezos for printing critical articles about him in WaPo, but then claiming it was because of Jeff Bezos' financial crimes or corruption.

It’s still very arbitrary, and far from any sense of justice you may have. When even powerful people can be arbitrarily detained and their goods taken, imagine what happens to common people standing up for their rights.

It shouldn't make anyone feel better that on paper the US government can also detain anyone and suspend their rights indefinitely with just a single signature by a federal judge.

America has 2.3 million people in prison. China has five times the population and only 1.7 million prisoners. As a common person, China still sounds like a better justice system.

So it's better to just disappear people who have outlived their usefulness to the national cogs instead of affording them due process and presumed innocence?

They have a government that controls the economy, not an economy that controls the government.

Elon sabotaged plans for a high speed rail that would help millions and his punishment is infinite money and the unwavering support of tech fuckboy dipshits thinking he’s Tony stark. Can’t believe marvel put that spoiled daddy’s boy sociopath in one of their movies.

They punish the billionaires that step out of line. Not legally stepping out of line but politically out of line.

This isn't strictly true. The first billionaire they executed was the leader of China's organized crime, he was executed after a series of public gang related shoot outs.

Because Chinese billionaires don't own China like American billionaires do in the US
